Mt. Samat LED Lighting — Dambana ng Kagitingan

IRATA-certified rope access installation of LED lighting on one of the Philippines' most important heritage monuments.

Project Overview

The Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor) is a monumental cross-shaped memorial on the summit of Mount Samat in Pilar, Bataan — one of the Philippines' most significant historical landmarks, commemorating the heroism of Filipino and American soldiers during World War II. CMW Asia was engaged to install LED lighting on the monument's exterior using specialized rope access techniques.

The monument's unique cross-shaped architecture presented a significant access challenge. Traditional scaffolding would have been impractical given the structure's height, geometry, and heritage status — any access method needed to avoid damage to the historical surface. CMW Asia deployed IRATA-certified rope access technicians (Level 1, 2, and 3 qualified) who could reach every surface of the monument safely and efficiently without the physical footprint of conventional scaffolding.

Our rope access team installed LED lighting elements across the monument's surfaces, transforming its nighttime appearance while preserving the integrity of the historical structure. This project demonstrated CMW Asia's ability to apply rope access solutions to heritage preservation projects — where the access method itself must be as carefully considered as the work being performed.
